Behavior Policy:
What happens when there is trouble?????
Automatic Detention will be given when:
  • Homework is missing
  • Paper not signed and returned.
Other ways to get detention:
  • Sometimes we make mistakes, and that is OK.  The first time a rule or procedure is broken, a student will receive a verbal warning.  That means Mrs. Adams will remind this person about what he/she should have been doing.
  • The second time you make a mistake your name will be on the board and you will be in recess detention for the day.  Parents will be notified with a automated phone call home.
  • If the behavior continues a parent will be contacted.
I will also be using a computer App called Remind!

One of the great features of Remind is that it allows me to send a group text with upcoming important information and notifications.  My hope is that this will keep the communication lines open between you and I and will help you to better understand what is going on in the classroom.

Lunch Money:
Please make sure lunch money is sent in an envelope with your child's name, grade and teacher.

Birthdays:
Please feel free to send in a healthy treat for your child to share with the class on their birthday.  This special snack is eaten in the cafeteria after lunch but before recess.

Bathroom Breaks:
Children are allowed to use the bathroom once during the morning and once in the afternoon unless it is an "emergency".  In our classroom we have an AM and PM scheduled time so I am able to track who is going in and out and to avoid "frequent flyers" who like to roam the hallways.   With that being said, students are not allowed to use the restroom during whole group instruction unless it is an "emergency". Once the lesson is complete and seat work or classwork is underway they will be able to leave the room.

Water Bottles:
We have a water fountain in the classroom that may be used anytime during the day except during a whole group lesson.  During group work or seat work is a great time to get a drink.  I have found the water bottles on the desk to be a distraction in the classroom and also cause more "frequent" bathroom trips.  However, if you would like your child to have a water bottle please send in a note requesting the reason and only send in the small 8oz. plastic bottles.  Please do not send in special water bottles with straws as they end up leaking all over lunches or spilled and interrupt our learning.  We are also now using Chrome Books and cannot risk them having accidental water damage.
Thank you :)
Pencil Sharpening:
Each student will be responsible for having 2-3 sharpened pencils each day.  I will give time each afternoon for to sharpen pencils.  Students are not allowed to get up and sharpen during whole group instruction.  If a student is without a pencil during a writing activity they may put their unsharpened pencil in the "pencil cup" and borrow a teacher pencil from the "sharpened cup"until it is time to sharpen.
